Isis is a family owned and managed business. Isis was the original name of the theater that was built in 1937 – which is the building that we renovated. There were a number of Isis Theaters built during the 30s around the country. During the 30s – many folks had a fascination with Greek and Egyptian architecture (thus the birth of the art-deco period). Isis was an ancient Egyptian goddess. As for the history :: Isis was worshipped as the ideal mother and wife as well as the patroness of nature and magic. She was the friend of slaves, sinners, artisans and the downtrodden, but she also listened to the prayers of the wealthy, maidens, aristocrats and rulers. Isis was also known as protector of the dead and goddess of children. We chose to keep the name of the original theater for which the building was originally built.
It has been, and continues to be, an interesting and memorable experience. Throughout this process, folks have asked a number of times for us to describe what exactly Isis is. We each answer this a little differently, but in the end we expect the food and music to a be a reflection of that which we, our friends, and family enjoy. All the while, our ultimate goal being to create a good place to eat that inspires conversation, camaraderie, energy, and has great food and seriously good music. It is, and will continue to be, “a work in progress.”
We hope you will come join us for dinner, a concert, or a cocktail. We look forward to seeing you.
Isis has a large outdoor dining patio that features live music on some nights. Our patio is partially covered and faces an open green space where patrons can enjoy the grass and a beverage. Parking is conveniently located on the same side as the patio.
The Dining Room
Our dining room is a very live space with lots of natural light and a long bar where you can also enjoy dinner. Large windows face Haywood Road in front and the patio for a nice open view of West Asheville.
Executive Chef Chris Jones is joined by a great crew in the kitchen. These guys are responsible for creating dishes using seasonal products and utilizing local produce whenever possible. Our menu changes every 8 weeks or so, and has daily features.
Our staff is professional, enthusiastic, and shares the vision for the venue. We are very fortunate to have attracted folks that wanted to be a part of what we envisioned Isis to be.

Isis, as well as being a restaurant, has an amazing music hall. Our hall hosts both dinner shows and standing room shows. With crowd sizes ranges from 200- 450. Many of the artists and performers we feature are recognized national or regional acts. Our goal is to also present new artists that have not yet received full national attention, as well as the exuberant amount of talent in and around Asheville.More About The Music Hall
