Set in the heart of West Asheville, Isis Theater was built in 1937 as a single screen movie house and screened its last film in 1957. We as a family revamped the theater to what is now Kitchen 743 @ Isis Music Hall. A place to catch an intimate dinner and a show, or a rock show with 450 other people.
How we got to the point of opening a restaurant and music hall as a family is a interesting story of timing and passion. We all have a love for music. We, as kids, grew up listening to Scott (Dad) pick on the banjo, and preform at events around town. Mom always enjoyed hosting get togethers with food, tasty beverages and, of course, a jam session.
This journey has been, and continues to be, an interesting and memorable experience. Throughout the process of creating Isis, folks have asked a number of times for us to describe what exactly Isis is. We each answer this a little differently, but in the end we expect the food and music to a be a reflection of that which we, our friends, and family enjoy. All the while, our ultimate goal being to create a space that inspires conversation, camaraderie, energy, and has great food and even better music.
We hope you will come join us for dinner, a concert, or a cocktail. We look forward to seeing you.
Isis has a large outdoor dining patio that features free live music several nights a week. Our patio is partially covered and faces an open green space where patrons can enjoy a beverage on the grass.
THE DINING ROOM
Our dining room is a very live space with lots of natural light with a long bar where you can also enjoy our full dinner menu. Any given night you can hear the live music happening on MainStage throughout the building, including the patio. Large windows face Haywood Road in front with a nice open view of West Asheville.
Chefs Crystal Garvitte and Erica Rowee are joined by a great crew in the kitchen. These guys are responsible for creating dishes using seasonal products and utilizing local produce whenever possible. You can grab a locally sourced burger, wild caught salmon, or enjoy a petit tender steak. Our menu works for most any mood you’re in.
Our staff is professional, enthusiastic, and shares the vision for the venue. We’re fortunate to have attracted folks that wanted to be a part of what we’ve envisioned Isis to be.
