A Different Thread plays “British-Americana”. The group is based around the collaboration between Robert Jackson (Lichfield, UK) and Alicia Best (Durham, NC). Their original songs are inspired by the music that has crossed and crisscrossed the Atlantic of the decades in true folk fashion, from the rolling hills of Staffordshire to the Mountains of Appalachia. They weave together elements of blues and bluegrass, country and folk, bringing their own take to the table.
Although they have been based in The Midlands, England, the group has traveled all around the UK, Ireland, The Netherlands, Belgium and France, they have gained momentum as they tour and attracted the attention of the press:
‘thought provoking, well crafted lyrics’(Gordon Giltrap)
‘strong, soulful voice’ (FATEA magazine).
“Their Country and Americana sound is nothing short of intoxicating” – Hits In The Sticks
“These guys sound like a mature bottle of wine.” – Claire Cavanagh, BBC Radio Bristol
“It certainly touched my heart.” – Sam Bonham, BBC 6 Music
Their “Virginias and Carolinas” tour (with a little bit of Tennessee) is their debut stateside tour. They are excited to connect with their southern musical roots and share their English edge with Appalachia.
