RED WINE is one of the premier bluegrass bands in Europe, actively touring since 1978, with a style that embraces traditional and contemporary bluegrass, country, gospel, and a little swing. RED WINE has played all over Europe, appearing at some of the major international festivals and venues in Italy, France, Switzerland, Germany, Ireland, Holland, Czech Republic and Austria, sharing the stage with major acts from the USA and Europe and gaining a strong following everywhere.
Since 1995 RED WINE has also been touring the USA regularly and intensively, appearing successfully, among the others, at Hardly Strictly Bluegrass Festival in San Francisco CA for 3 years in a row, at Wintergrass Acoustic Music Festival in Bellevue WA, at Uncle Pen’s Memorial Festival in Bean Blossom (IN), at Oklahoma International Bluegrass Festival (Guthrie, OK), at Walnut Valley Festival in Winfield (KS), the Bluegrass & Chili Festival (Tulsa-Claremore, OK), the Strawberry Festival (Camp Mather, CA), the Poppy Mountain Bluegrass Festival (Morehead, KY), the Mohican Bluegrass Festival (Greer, OH), The Station Inn (Nashville, TN), and at the massive 1995, 2001 and 2008 editions the International Bluegrass Music Association (IBMA) “World of Bluegrass” . During these tours the band has also been featured in several TV and live radio shows, and Michael Johnathon’s Woodsongs Old Time Radio Hour in Lexington KY, and Terry Herd’s Bluegrass Radio Network in Nashville TN.
In 2008 Red Wine received the “Liguria Region Music Award” from the Cristoforo Colombo Foundation, and since 2009 produces the show “THE BLUEGRASS PARTY”, that each year brings to Genova bluegrass fans and music lovers from all over Italy and different European Countries. Sharing the stage with Red Wine at the Party have been superstar artists like TIM O’BRIEN (2009), LAURIE LEWIS & TOM ROZUM (2010), DOYLE LAWSON & QUICKSILVER (2011) and PETER ROWAN (2012).
With the recent addition of two young members Marco Ferretti (guitar, vocal) and Lucas Bellotti (electric bass, vocal), to veteran founding member Silvio Ferretti (banjo, vocal, one of the first six EBMA European Bluegrass Music Association Pioneers in 2013) and Martino Coppo (mandolin, vocal), the band has found new excitement and has expanded even more its music boundaries, looking for more original and contemporary material, while keeping its sound deeply rooted in the tradition.
