Born and raised in Louisville, KY, Carrie Morrison has been playing piano since age seven. She moved to “higher ground” in 2004, and has been a denizen of local clubs and venues in Western NC for over a decade. Music has long been part of her life, from improvisational and classical piano study to choirs and musicals. Morrison is known for melodically strong songs with personal, pithy lyrics and soulful, plaintive vocals. She has recorded and performed with many local artists: the late Tom Rogers, Steve Whiteside, Ellen Trnka, Andrew Thelston, Garry Segal, Rob Curtis, Amanda Gardner, Bradford Carson, and the late Terry Wetton, who also produced Morrison’s 2013 release Carolina Blonde. Her new album, Miles and Miles, was produced by Chris Rosser ( Hollow Reed Arts Studio) of award-winning ensemble Free Planet Radio and was released in November 2017.
