Claudia Nygaard is a former Nashville Music Row staff songwriter, a winner of both the Kerrville, TX Folk Festival and Tumbleweed Music Festival songwriting competitions. According to the legendary Folk music magazine “Sing Out”, her songs “rival the likes of Guy Clark or Ian Tyson” .
She tours internationally, and her large fan base has recently rewarded her with a highly successful kickstarter campaign. That crowdfunding has just allowed Claudia to record a new album with record producer Neilson Hubbard – an Americana Music Association “Album of the year” nominee. It is her most personal and soul baring work to date, delivered by a warm and powerful alto voice and highly emotional vocals. “Lucky Girl” will be released in early 2019.
Nygaard is a storyteller well known as a captivating performer, and she takes an audience on a fearless journey with stories that expose a rare vulnerability and tenderness one moment, then a quick wit and an outlandish, irreverant sense of humor the next. Her songs move from heartfelt to humorous and from scrappy to sensual, and all the while the tales she tells in between them are as entertaining as the songs themselves.
Claudia’s last CD “Let The Storm Roll In” rose to the coveted #1 position on the Cashbox Roots/Country Chart and #8 on the Folk DJ Chart – with every one of her self-penned compositions receiving airplay. The album received glowing reviews from the press that included five stars from Americana benchmark “Maverick” magazine.
