De la Noche is an Asheville-based group dedicated to recreating the seductive sound of the classic Tango orchestras that thrived in Buenos Aires and Montevideo in the 1930’s and 40’s, when Tango dancing was all the rage. Comprised of bandoneon, piano, violins, and bass, De la Noche plays music that is both romantic and emotionally charged. It is perfect for dancing or listening, possibly with eyes closed.
The band has been together for 8 years. We started off as members of The Asheville Tango Orchestra and reformed 5 years ago as De la Noche. Members of the band are: Jeff Hersk, bass; Patrick Kukuchka, bandoneon; Marilynn Seits, piano; Paul Stroebel, violin and Lew Gelfond, violin. Members of De la Noche also play in other groups performing jazz, classical and traditional music. De la Noche released its first album in October 2018.
