Currently touring with Ricky Skaggs and Kentucky Thunder and the Bryan Sutton Band, Mike Barnett is fluent in a wide range of musical genres including Bluegrass, old time, jazz, and new acoustic music. He has toured with legends such as Jesse McReynolds, Tony Trischka, and David Grisman. Mike has also shared the stage with innovators including Bela Fleck, Bobby Hicks, Buddy Spicher, and acclaimed comedians Steve Martin and Ed Helms. Michael has performed on a variety of stages including the Grand Ole Opry and the Late Show with Stephen Colbert. At age 14, Mike released his first album, “Lost Indian,” a compilation of fiddle tunes, and in 2014 he released “One Song Romance,” an album of original compositions. In addition to performing, Mike is also a highly sought after instructor having taught at Live Oak Fiddle Camp, Crystal Plohman’s Vanderbilt Fiddle Conference, and Christian Howe’s Creative Strings Workshop. With his new release of “Portraits in Fiddles,” Mike celebrates some of his musical mentors and influences by encompassing a mix of bluegrass and more progressive works.
