Every Tuesday evening Isis Music Hall presents our Tuesday Bluegrass Sessions. The sessions are hosted each week by a local bluegrass musician with friends or a band. Following the host band, Bluegrass musicians from the Asheville area gather on stage to jam in an open session. Occasionally, we feature a touring band that will perform prior to the open session and help co-host the jam. It’s always a great evening of music and community.

The Billing Failing Band

7:30PM

With the release of his debut album, Calling My Trouble by Name, Billy Failing is making a name for himself in the world of contemporary bluegrass and well beyond. The record, consisting of almost all original material brings his unique and eclectic voice as a songwriter together with his skill and deep appreciation for bluegrass and roots music, simultaneously drawing on the familiar while embracing the new and venturing outward.

Born and raised in Portland, OR, he relocated to Nashville in 2015, following stints in Boston, where he studied at Berklee College of Music, and New York City, where he gained valuable experience playing music professionally full-time. Since making the move to Nashville, he has toured extensively as a sideman, playing banjo with guitarist Billy Strings, in addition to developing his solo project with the help and guidance of some of nashville’s finest musicians and veterans of the industry.
