When Ultrafaux last performed in Asheville, they were co-headlining a sold-out show at Grey Eagle for the annual Django Birthday Party. They return on Friday August 31 for a very special intimate show at Isis Music Hall where they will be presenting some new compositions off of their upcoming CD. The show will feature a blend of jazz manouche, swing, musette, Balkan, funk, and be-bop styles.

Ultrafaux

7:00PM

Ultrafaux, is a dynamic acoustic band of two guitars and upright bass that has pushed the envelope of what we commonly know as gypsy jazz by creating edgy compositions that stretch the boundaries while remaining rooted firmly in its rich tradition and technique. The trio has thrilled a wide variety of audiences at jazz festivals and concert halls all over the world since their first CD release in 2014. Composer Michael Joseph Harris and guitarist Sami Arefin share rhythm and lead roles, trading dazzling solos and harmonizing together on rich gypsy-inspired melodies as bassist Zach Serleth holds down the beat with an authentic Balkan feel. Ultrafaux last performed in Asheville at Grey Eagle to a sold-out crowd, co-headlining the annual Django Birthday Festival. They were also featured at the prestigious Festival Django Reinhardt in France last year. The trio brings a new set of originals to this special show at Isis Music Hall on Friday Aug.31 and they look forward to reconnecting with Asheville-based friends and fans.
