Known in Western North Carolina as a top Soul band, the Secret B-Sides produce “solid gold baby making music.”
With the release of albums like Welcome to Soul City, Easy Magic, Flowers & Chocolate, and Live on the Mothership (not to mention lost EPisodes) the Secret B-Sides consistently create plush musical escapes. B-Sides albums also feature sincerely sexy slow-jams, thoughtful brass and woodwind arrangements, as well as articulated rap verses from some of the region’s best eMCees: Agent 23 (AKA Secret Agent 23 Skidoo), Preach Jacobs, Chach (AKA Chachillie), and Red!nk.
Whether performing live as a quartet, or accompanied by any number of collaborators, this band is on the planet to help Earthly beings get together for funky good times. And, despite rumors to the contrary, the Secret B-Sides are still all about flying saucers, dinosaurs, and love.
Since conception, the Secret B-Sides have opened in direct support for Lee Fields & the Expressions, Soulive, +he Foreign Exchange, Karl Denson’s Tiny Universe, Talib Kweli, Dead Prez, Dwele, and many more, including a very special performance as the backing band for Gift of Gab, from Blackalicious.

A walking paradox. A man all his own. Philo has been heavy in the game for years. Equally as talented in the realms of penning lyrics as he is in music production, he is not a force to be trifled with. Philo currently performs with a full 8 piece band, including a horn section composed with members of Empire Strikes Brass and the unparalleled vocal talents of grammy nominated artist Debrissa McKinney. Philo will be releasing his brand new album “A Monster It Remains”.
