Jackie Venson · 8:30pm
“It is legend that a blistering Jackie Venson guitar solo knocked Pluto straight out of planetary existence”
Venson’s “...astonishing mix of raw soul, superb musicianship and laid back grace...” (Austin American Statesman) has been compared to the likes of Joss Stone, Amy Winehouse and fellow Austin native Gary Clark, Jr. Originally a classical pianist, Jackie picked up the guitar, shortly after graduating from Berklee College of Music, and made the giant leap from the tradition of classical music to the raw and gritty blues and soul.
Enthralled with music since the age of 8, this young singer/songwriter/musician instantly captures your attention with a vibrant musical soul and passionate control of her instruments, that reach far beyond her age. As she mindfully blends Blues, Rock, R&B, Soul and more with her introspective lyrics, the message is clear- when you’re listening to Jackie you hear the “Truth in Music”.
Her live performances revisit what makes music so powerful: emotion and passion. She thrives without the flash, instead favoring a clean sound, genuine soul, and meaningful connection with her audience. Music is not only what Venson does – it’s who she is!
Fair City Fire · 8:30pm
Formed in 2014, Fair City Fire is a groove-heavy, in-your-face rock and roll band out of Austin, TX. Their sound is marked by tasteful guitar work, a driving rhythm section, and powerhouse vocals that command attention. The band has a history of successful local performances, including such at Austin staples as Antone's, Stubbs, Mohawk and Empire Control Room.
In March of 2015, FCF released the “Say It Loud” EP. In support of it, they hit the road for an East Coast/Midwest tour, traveling to New York and back. In 2016, they followed up with their first full length album “The Simple Truth”. The supporting tour lead them to an expanded list of cities including Dallas, Nashville, Indianapolis, Chicago, Columbus, Cleveland, Binghamton, NYC, Charlotte, Atlanta and Houston. 2016, also found them the recipient of the Austin Music Foundation’s Artist of the Month for August.
Fair City Fire has seen their sound and fan base grow more than ever in 2017. The expansive “Radio Attack Tour” put the band in cities both familiar and new in support of their single “Attack”. The second annual “Too Damn Hot Affair”, a charity concert event created and hosted by the band, put them in front of an impressive crowd at the legendary Antone's in August 2017. The release of their single, “No Promises”, capped off what was a busy summer. They released their second full length album, "Shake Your Bones", April 13, 2018 with a national tour to support the album. They performed in 17 cities all over the US! Fair City Fire is hard at work so they can continue to create and release as much music as possible as this is what they love to do.
