If you’ve caught shows in Asheville over the last few years with The Milk Carton Kids or Sierra Hull, you are familiar with the powerful bass playing and refined musicianship of Ethan Jodziewicz. On March 14, he returns to town leading his own quartet, playing brand new original compositions falling somewhere between jazz, classical, acoustic music, and pure free improvisation. Featuring fellow virtuosos Mike Seal (electric guitar), Mark Raudabaugh (drums) and Aaron Walters (keyboards).
The Ethan Jodziewicz Group · 7:00PM
The Ethan Jodziewicz Group is guitarist Mike Seal, drummer Mark Raudabaugh, keyboardist Aaron Walters, and upright/electric bassist Ethan Jodziewicz. Brought together in 2017 by their love of the music of Chick Corea and Weather Report, they quickly found a satisfying connection in musical collaboration and improvisation. The group has become a vehicle for Jodziewicz’s original compositions, and spur-of-the-moment group free improvisations, bringing to the Nashville music scene expressive, playful, and virtuosic new sounds occupying the space between jazz, funk, classical, and free music.
As individuals they have worked with a long list of jazz and acoustic music luminaries including The Jerry Douglas Band, The Jeff Coffin Mu-tet, Ike Stubblefield, Béla Fleck, Bernard Purdie, Jeff Sipe Trio, Sierra Hull, Fred Wesley, Howard Levy, Bobby Lee Rodgers and The CodeTalkers, Donna The Buffalo, Colonel Bruce Hampton, and more. Calling on these years of experience on the road and in the studio, The Ethan Jodziewicz Group focuses on pure musical communication and connection, with striking compositions, sounds, and grooves to be enjoyed by music-lovers and musicians alike.
