In the worlds of bluegrass and traditional folk, it’s not unusual to witness young talents astounding crowds with feats of instrumental dexterity. But it’s highly unusual to encounter a pair of players like brother-sister duo Giri and Uma Peters, who, at ages 14 and 12, have already performed at the Kennedy Center, jammed and recorded with Rhiannon Giddens and tracked an album at Jerry Douglas’ studio — after gravitating completely on their own toward American roots music. These Indian-American siblings from Nashville, TN are award-winning multi-instrumentalists - Giri on fiddle, guitar, and mandolin, and Uma on clawhammer banjo and fiddle. They have been electrifying audiences with their refreshing, soulful blend of music and songwriting. Although young in age, their musicianship and vocal harmonies showcase a level of creativity and originality well beyond their years.
