The Greenville Jazz Collective is a non-profit organization started in 2012 by highly respected members of the jazz community in Greenville, SC. Through education outreach in the community and regular performance in an environment that is best suited for listening, the mission of the GJC is to create a greater awareness and appreciation for jazz music and history in the Upstate for generations to come.

Along with the Big Band, Contemporary Quintet, and Education Outreach Program, we are also working towards starting various small group ensembles for high school students, free events for the general public, and providing the Greater Greenville community with robust and innovative jazz events and offerings.

Started by Brad Jepson and Shannon Hoover in February 2014, GJC Big Band has a somewhat revolving cast of musicians who volunteer their time do so for the love of the music and camaraderie. With thousands of hours of volunteer time delivered from over 50 area musicians filling the 17 musical chairs to make a big band performance, the donations made to the Big Band's famous tip jar have raised over $10,000 to help fuel our Education Outreach programs. We are so happy to have good relationships with our musical friends, only some of whom are listed below, who help us enrich the community through jazz.

The GJC Big Band released an album in 2018 entitled "Welcome to Earth," which features original compositions from a few of the members. This recording will be available for purchase at the concert.
