Greg Ruby is a guitarist, composer, author, bandleader and music educator living in Seattle, WA. His most recent work, The Oscar Alemán Play-Along Songbook Vol. 1 celebrates the music of Swing-era guitar master Oscar Alemán through a detailed transcription book with accompanying play-along audio. This lead him to form the Greg Ruby 6, a swing ensemble that performs Alemán’s arrangements and compositions. His most recent record, Syncopated Classic, unearthed the nearly lost compositions of 1920’s Seattle jazz pioneer, Frank D. Waldron and was named Northwest Jazz Recording of the Year (2017) by Earshot Jazz Magazine. Greg recently became the Guitar Week Coordinator for the Swannanoa Gathering.

Don Stiernberg  · 7:00pm

Don Stiernberg (Chicago, mandolin) is a leading exponent of jazz mandolin style. He has nine recording projects of his own and appears on many others. The most recent of these is "Good Numbers,” featuring his trio playing accessible and swinging jazz tunes on mandolin, guitar, and bass.
While still in his teens Don learned to play mandolin from the influential and innovative virtuoso Jethro Burns. In addition to performing coast to coast and abroad with The Don Stiernberg Trio, he stays busy around his native Chicago on various sideman gigs and recording sessions, writes instructional materials for Mel Bay and Soundslice.com, and is a respected instructor at music camps and festival workshops.

Kevin Kehrberg  · 7:00pm

Kevin Kehrberg (Asheville, bassist) performs both jazz and traditional music. He has toured nationally and internationally, including Canada, Japan, and on U.S. State Department tours of Kyrgyzstan and Ecuador. Kehrberg has performed with Howard Alden, Slide Hampton, Roger Humphries, Jean Ritchie, and Art Stamper. His album credits include recordings with the Kentucky Jazz Repertory Orchestra, Billy Contreras, Rayna Gellert, Chris Sharp, and the Red State Ramblers. He resides in Asheville, NC where he is a member of the music faculty at Warren Wilson College.
