You’ll be transported to another era as Frank & Allie Lee swap old guitars, banjos, fiddle, harmonica, and vocals back and forth, sharing their favorite traditional American songs & tunes!  With hard-driving instrumentals and songs from the mountains; three seasoned Asheville musicians Emily Schaad, John Herrmann, and Meredith McIntosh come together in a rare local appearance.

Frank and Allie Lee

https://www.frankandallie.com

Frank and Allie Lee (Bryson City, NC) are a clawhammer-playing duo. They swap banjos back and forth, mixing in guitars and harmonicas to accompany their harmony singing on favorite old time songs from the Southeast. While they identify as an old time duo, they are known for using the label broadly, including blues, bluegrass, and spiritual songs in their performances.

Emily Schaad

https://www.blueridgebroadcasters.com

Emily Schaad is known for a complex and powerful fiddling style, and has taken first place in numerous stringband and fiddle contests, including the Appalachian Stringband Music Festival in Clifftop, WV. Emily came to the music of the southern Appalachians as a classical violist and public school string teacher, and once the archaic and driving sound of the fiddle and banjo found her, she never looked back.

John Herrmann

John Herrmann has been traveling the world playing old-time music for over forty years. He plays fiddle with the New Southern Ramblers, but he has performed with many bands including the Henrie Brothers Critton Hollow, the Wandering Ramblers, One-Eyed Dog and the Rockinghams. Equally adept on banjo, fiddle, mandolin, guitar, and bass, he is known as the “Father of Old-Time Music” in Japan(!), and the originator of the ‘slow jam.’

Meredith McIntosh

Meredith McIntosh is a multi-instrumentalist who plays bass with the New Southern Ramblers & Bigfoot and has performed with Alice Gerrard, Balfa Toujours, The Freight Hoppers, and The Bucking Mules. She has recorded with a variety of people including Art Stamper, Dirk Powell, and Si Kahn.
